SAFETY COURSE INFORMATION
To obtain a NSW firearms licence for longarms (like rifles and shotguns), you must pass a mandatory safety course. The course covers laws, safe storage, and practical handling.
RIFLES/SHOTGUNS
At SSAA KYOGLE our Rifle Course - Rifle ( A B ) takes about 3 hours to complete both the theory and the practicle sections. You can hold an AB licence for Target, Rec Shooting or Rural.
Costs you can expect:
Rifle Safety Course = $110 ( covers the use of guns and ammunition on the day )
Annual Range Fees = $120

HANDGUNS:
Training for a handgun ( H ) is treated a little differently, a handgun licence is usually issued ONLY for Target - as a sport at an approved range like SSAA KYOGLE Pistol Club.
Costs you can expect:
Pistol Safety Course = $100 for your training course
( theory and practical Including use of Firearms and Ammunition on the Day )
Pistol Membership (Which is Mandatory) = $30
Annual Range Fees (Which is Mandatory) = $120

Once you are a financial member and pass the theory and practical assessments, you will receive a Statement of Attainment.
You must then submit this certificate to the NSW Police.
A PTA ( Permit to acquire ) will only be considered after these requirements are fulfulled.
